Family Firsts

This Tuesday we decided to go get Channing's pictures taken. Mom Wilbur offered to go with us and warned us that it is usually a few hour ordeal. We booked the appointment at JCPenny's, got his outfits all ready to go, and rushed out of the house to get to the appointment on time, btw, it's crazy how much longer it takes to get ready with a newborn. When we got there our name wasn't down for the appointment.

We decided that we were all ready and didn't want to come back another day so we found another place in the mall to get it done, Picture People. We dressed him in his blessing outfit and an outfit based around these awesome Vans shoes that Ann Owens gave us.

Because we switched picture locations Channing got to nap for a couple hours while we walked around the mall so he was hungry when he was woken to take the pictures. We teased him with a bottle--poor kid. He did awesome! It is such an ordeal to get pictures taken, who knew! You get them taken, then wait forever, then they bring them out in frames to put the pressure on, then you look through a slide show of them, and then you have to pick! We are definitely new parents.

On Monday we went to San Onofre with the Bounds and Graves. It was awesome! Josh learned how to surf at this beach at Old Man's break growing up. It was rad returning as a family. Channing, a little over 5 weeks, did great. He only got a little fussy towards the end. He even knocked out for the drive home, which was 45 min. We had family home evening and had dutch-oven cooking: BBQ chicken, scalloped potatoes, and peach cobbler. It was soooo good. It was really nice to get out. Channing loved the sound of the ocean, it put him right to sleep. We hope he will like the beach, otherwise we are in trouble.

Little Miracles

Two days before little Channing was born we were blessed with a car. We are so thankful that we found it when we did. We had spent hours and hours looking online and most of the cars did not pan out. After finding this Nissan Altima we prayed earnestly, checked carfax, and the dealership and bought it! Josh has spent hours cleaning, waxing, and changing the oil.
We are so blessed to have found it when we did.
Heavenly Father blesses us so incredibly much.

Both boys require lots of sleeping...

...even on the kitchen bench.

We just laugh when he gets a big smile on his face! It makes our day!!

Josh took this awesome picture of his little rolls!! AH! I love it!

His one week bath! His little umbilical cord came off and we were stoked! We were so excited to give him a 'for real' bath. We call this his 'pirate face'. The first couple weeks he often only had one eye open.

Channing holds his arms so cute when he sleeps. Sometimes they are straight up. He often lays right on his arms.

This facial expression cracks us up!! This is his wide awake face that often makes him cross eye'd.

Josh brought me flowers after work one day and it totally made me cry! It was so thoughtful and sweet. I don't know how I got so lucky to marry the most wonderful perfect man for me.

Channing was blessed on August 7th.

It was an absolutely beautiful blessing. He is such a choice spirit. We are so blessed to be entrusted with him.

Our little angel was in a little white tux. All we wanted was a bow tie involved with the outfit, that was our requirement--well that and it being white.

He has his Daddy's nose, brows, lips, and feet. He has his Mommy's eye shape and his crying face looks just like her baby pics.

Our little family!

Hayley's brother Jacob and his wife Sarah came out for the weekend to meet Channing. We were so moved that they would drive so far to only spend a few hours with us.

*Disclaimer: Gew! I look totally hammered in that picture!
Only got 3 1/2 hours of sleep for a couple nights in a row.

Hayley's Mom came out for a few weeks and blessed our lives so much. She stayed up with little Channing till 2 - 4 am many, many nights. Hayley would have undoubtedly lost it without her.

We have heard people say countless times that, "you do not know what love is until you have a child"--it is so true. No words can express how deeply you feel for your child. We are so in love with him and just love staring and interacting with him for hours.

Little Channing has been having a hard time with gas, colic-like symptoms, and as of yesterday, diagnosed acid reflex. He has been doing much better this week. We are so blessed and cannot express our appreciation to our friends and family who have fasted, prayed, and added their faith to helping him feel better.

God is so good to us.

As of yesterday Channing weighed 9 lbs 3 oz.
