Working Girl!

http://www.hawaiifun.org/CompanyLogo.img?companyid=235

I got a job!

We are so grateful! I got a job! It is not full time however I have expressed my flexibility time and time again and will hopefully be able to get quite a few hours. It is at the jewelry shop at the Polynesian Cultural Center. Sadly they do not pay that well, but I am so grateful to have a job!
It has been really strange going from 100 mph going to school and working to not having a job. There were never enough hours in the day to get everything done as a full time student and as an employee. These past few months have shown me how different life will continue to be not being in school. Josh and I both had crazy schedules while we both were working and in school and our schedules will become continually different in a few more months when we become parents and Josh continues on to get his MBA.

God is so good to us! I cannot believe how blessed we are. We can feel His love and goodness all around us. We both are employed, Josh got into Cal State Fullerton, we have wonderful and amazing family and friends, we are living in the most beautiful place, I finished school and Josh will be done in June, and we are having a baby!! Not only are we having a baby but we are on HSMA meaning the cost of the pregnancy and delivery will be free and we are on WIC! Amidst all the trials all around us and all the hardships there is no doubt that God loves us. He loves all of us and blesses us every day!

Our First Sroller!

I have been looking a lot at baby things online. This is my favorite stroller. I have tried to read a lot of different reviews on it and people seem very pleased. Graco has the best reviews overall. I really liked black and white because it will work for both a boy and a girl! Most strollers are either pink or blue/green. I would rather not have to buy one for every child we have--especially since Josh wants 7! :)

We had not planned on getting the stroller until we got closer to the birth however I found the stroller on Craig's List for $60!! The cheapest I found it online was $169. The chick selling it is moving to Alaska and had 2 of the exact same stroller. She said she took this one twice to the park and her little boy never sat in the seat because she just clicked in his car seat. She said she absolutely has loved this stroller and showed us how easy it is to use! It looks brand new out of the box.

We are so blessed. We are so thankful God takes care of us. My sister Heidi always says, "You pay your tithing and God just takes care of you!"

It is so true!

We are so excited to welcome out little one into the world.
We are so in love with him already! :)

God's Masterpiece and a Miracle

http://photos.igougo.com/images/p200039-Kaneohe_Oahu_HI-Kaneohe_Bay_at_sunrise.jpg
Last weekend Josh and I went into town, a.k.a. Honolulu, for a date. It had been raining the night before and a little that day. When we got to Kaneohe, about half way there, the mountains were covered in waterfalls! It was incredible. Words cannot express how stunning it was. There was somewhere between 20 and 30 waterfalls. The clouds hung low against the tops of the luscious green landscape.

I call Hawaii "God's masterpiece." It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. I love the people, the cultures, the land, the sea, and just about everything about it. It will be hard to leave this paradise but I am eternally grateful for every moment spent here. Seeing all of the breathtaking waterfalls made me feel so overwhelmingly blessed to have the chance to live in Hawaii, meet the man of my dreams, and start our eternal family.
God is so good to us. We are so blessed.

That night when driving we drove over a lot of debris on the road from the incredibly high tide. We had 3 lights come on our dashboard. Just to have the car checked Firestone was going to charge us $230. We decided to wait and see if the light stayed on the next day before committing to pay that much. We said many prayers that the sand and rocks got kicked up under the car and the lights would not come back on. The next morning none of the lights came on. Oh God is so good to us. We are so thankful that we did not spend all that money to find out nothing was wrong or even worse to find out that something was really wrong!
There are miracles in our lived everyday, we just have to look for them.

Hunger Banquet

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpljl_K7RUmXRTsMeez-WALz-yIQBj9dLGoeYAV7WbIhd_k54q42B9u85odb6d2UDrTNW-4sOyv2HB5vyz6nht3SvcrWC_giiVuk9fXN0PsF9dQjz5mNqob0Xsqy207pN9SBYL9PtbEVk/s400/hunger.jpg
On Thursday night Josh and I wet to a hunger banquet on our campus put on by the McKay Center, my former employer. It was an incredible and touching experience. When you entered you received a number. Your number determined where you sit. A small group of people, including Josh and myself, sat at a table with a table cloth on it and silverware--thus representing the upper class. The middle class sat at a table with no cloth and plastic forks. The low income group sat on the floor and was the majority of the group.

They began by sharing facts with us:

Worldwide, there is enough food to feed the entire population of the planet. The problem is that not everyone has sufficient means to access that food year round.

The high income group represents 15 percent of the world’s population with a per capita income of $10,726 or more. They consume 70 percent of the world's food.

The middle income group is made up of 35 percent of the world’s population. They earn between $876 and $10,725 a year. Their levels of security and access to resources vary greatly. They live on the edge. For many, it would take losing only one harvest to drought or a serious illness to throw you into poverty.

The low income group represented the majority of the world’s population—roughly 50 percent. Their average income is less than $875 a year—about $2.40 a day—although many earn much less.

854 million people around the world are chronically hungry.

Every 3 seconds someone dies from huger.

Everyday 27,000 children die from hunger or other preventable diseases.

After many more facts were shared and scenarios given the highest income level table was served punch, salad, chicken, rice, and a piece of cake on nice pottery. The middle income was given rice and black beans on paper plates, and the lowest income had to get up and were given a scoop of rice in their hands. As they walked to get back to their side of the room they past our tables and we were told we could not share our food. Why?--because how many of us are really giving back? How many of us are giving of our time and means to help the hungry around the world? All of us were fed, but I cannot express how deeply we were touched.

We are all God's children. We have have a responsibility to take care of our bothers and sisters. It is so hard to not become consumed by all the worldly desires. It is easy for Josh and I to say while we are poor, "if we had we would give." But as the sun begins to set on this chapter of our lives, and not too many years from now will have more money, I sincerely pray that we will maintain our desire to give back. All the most beautiful materialistic things in the world are not worth more than the price of one soul or one mouth to feed.

D&C 57:16 warns: "Wo unto you rich men, that will not give your substance to the poor, for your riches will canker your souls; and this shall be your lamentation in the day of visitation, and of judgement, and of indignation: The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and my soul is not saved!"

Matthew 19:21 it reads; "Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me."

We are blessed beyond that which we can imagine.
May we all give back in the measure in which we can.

Our most sincere love.

20 Weeks!!

We went to the doctors on Monday and had our half way mark ultra sound. It is for sure a boy!! We could not be more excited! It was the most amazing experience! It was incredible to see all the bones in his little hands, arms, legs, ribs, and spine! He kept turning his little face towards us!! It was awesome! We get weekly updates from babycenter.com and this week it says he is around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and 10 inches from head to heel--the length of a banana. He weighs about 10 1/2 ounces! We are so excited!
We just can't wait to hug him and kiss him!
